The SaaS platform I worked on for five years. I built and maintained its UI library, page layouts and many of its components.

I'm Mike, an engineering manager who started out as a front-end developer. For over a decade I've designed and built accessible, high-performance web applications for ad and digital agencies, nonprofits, SaaS companies and enterprise platforms, and these days I lead the teams doing that work.
Fun fact: while I was at an ad agency, my name ended up in a commercial for a PlayStation game (opens in a new tab).
Ad campaigns don't last forever, so many of these projects are no longer online. They live on here.
The SaaS platform I worked on for five years. I built and maintained its UI library, page layouts and many of its components.
As a big Breaking Bad fan, building bettercallsaul.com was an honor. Still one of my favorite projects.
Shop pages for lego.com. I built reusable UI components for the pattern library, then the pages that use them.
Information on Anthem and its programs, plus a Health Footprint calculator: answer a few lifestyle questions and see what, if anything, you could do to improve your health.
A new site for HYFN, built from great designs. One of the most media-heavy responsive sites I've worked on, and it looked good on everything from iPhones to iMacs.
My first project for The Wall Street Journal. The media kit was built for modularity, so every section could be rearranged and edited through a custom CMS.
A fun, colorful social media and video hub. The responsive site showed every kind of media in modal windows, from original programming to people just eating.
A major partnership between Viacom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to bring college information to students. I worked mostly on layout and responsive elements on one of my largest projects.
A canvas app for designing your own Easter eggs and sharing them, in a playful parallax interface. Sadly, it only lasted the season.
A responsive site for Philosophy.com mixing image-based and editable text around an interactive canvas centerpiece. It was very blue.
The launch site for FX's new channel, FXX. I also built a global navigation shared with the FX site, so I worked extensively in both.
Fantasy sports meets the 2012 election, and it turned out beautifully. According to MTV, over 10,000 people played through the entire election season.
A refined WordPress site for a wine client. I handled everything, front end and PHP, making it one of the most fully featured sites I've built. The simple design breaks a lot of information into easy-to-read sections.
A responsive music chart and video portal for live Coach concerts, with a light back end pulling in artist info.
I built the front end for the mobile version of the Public Storage website.
My only Toyota project, but a big one. People could ask questions, search existing ones and answer each other.
I wrote most of the CSS and JavaScript, in what I'd call record time. A fun site to explore, full of cocktail tips and company history.
Moving in together and can't keep both couches? Upload photos of your stuff and your partner's, and let the crowd vote on what gets merged and what gets purged.
One of the biggest films of all time, and I built the site for the official game (which was actually fun to play). The site is long gone, but it had to make the list.
Happy cows make happy milk. I built the front end of this WordPress site for recipes, cheese pairings and the story behind the Real California Milk label on the good stuff at the supermarket.
Olympus handed out free cameras and invited people to share their shots on this site, built as a standalone site on Tumblr.
A hub of WordPress blogs for every kind of VW fan, from casual to enthusiast. It drew a lot of traffic in its day and is now offline.
A microsite within VW.com for comparing VW models side by side, and against competitors in the class you were shopping.
More video game sites, and I loved it. For Sony's PlayStation Move launch I built microsites where you could compare Move with other motion controllers, learn how it worked and send your parents a request to buy you one.
Another Facebook app I built the front end for: a class photo app that let new graduates share their accomplishment with friends.
One of my early LA projects: a modular platform for Warner Bros. to showcase fan media for each new release. Built for a Harry Potter film, then reused for the Clash of the Titans and Nightmare on Elm Street reboots.
A video game site with layering, animation and video effects that were advanced for the time. A CMS let the developers update content and highlight the game's social media. The game and site are long gone.
A Facebook app for rating your Colgate smile, sharing it with friends and posting it to a gallery. Fun, toothpastey stuff.
Not a site, but a rebuild of Fidelity's Flash ad mini-apps in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, including calculators that compared your savings and investments with others in your area.
A proprietary platform, so there's not much to show. It let teams engage social media users, build and launch Facebook apps and schedule posts for clients.
